Gender Tax – A Grim Reality – Anne Summers

She said despite progress made since the election of the Whitlam government – including the introduction of no-fault divorce, child support payments, anti-discrimination laws, government funding for childcare and a paid parental leave system – equality had stalled.

”I could never in a million years have imagined that in 2012 I would be giving speeches saying that the gender pay gap had scarcely moved in 30 years – and indeed that, on some indicators, is actually worse,” she said.

”We also have to face the grim reality that this pay inequality is now firmly entrenched.”
